Changing the language of movie and TV metadata

Choose a metadata language and understand why some fields may remain untranslated.

The language of the iFlicks interface, the preferred language for online metadata and the language labels of audio/subtitle tracks are separate choices.

Choose a metadata language

  1. Open iFlicks settings and find Metadata Language in the general settings.
  2. Select the language you want for online movie and TV information.
  3. For an already loaded video, check its language setting and run the metadata search again with the intended language.
  4. Review the title and description before processing.
  5. Process the video to save the intended changes.

Changing a preference does not translate text already written into your files. Existing videos and rules may have their own language values, so check those if a new lookup still uses an unexpected language.

Why a field may remain in another language

A source may not have a translated description, localized title or artwork for that entry. Original titles can also legitimately differ from localized display titles. Compare the result with the chosen source; if the translation is missing, you can supply your own text in iFlicks.

This setting does not dub audio or translate subtitle dialogue. To hear or read a different language, you need an appropriate audio or subtitle track.
