Naming files for automatic metadata lookup

Use clear film titles, release years and series episode numbers to improve matching.

iFlicks reads filenames to identify movies and TV episodes before searching for metadata. Clear names make automatic matching more reliable.

Movies

Include the title and release year, especially for remakes. Common forms include:

Movie Name.2020.mkv
Movie Name.[2020].mkv
Movie Name.(2020).mkv

TV episodes

Include the series name, season and episode:

Example Show.S02E05.mkv
Example Show.02x05.mkv

iFlicks also has parsing rules for episodes stored under a series and season folder, such as Example Show/Season 02/05.mkv.

After adding a file, check the interpreted title, season and episode before processing. If your naming scheme differs, use an On File Load rule to adjust the search information.
