A video may already contain useful metadata. You can load that information again if a search has replaced details you wanted to keep.
Open the advanced metadata menu in the metadata sidebar. It offers Load and Merge commands for the filename, file and associated TV-app item.
Load or merge?
- Load: replace the displayed metadata with the selected source. Fields absent from that source may be empty afterwards.
- Merge: combine values from the selected source with the current metadata. Existing fields may still change where the source supplies a value.
Choose File to reuse embedded metadata in an MP4/M4V file. Choose Filename to run filename parsing and file-load rules again. The TV App commands apply when the video has an associated library item.
Review the resulting fields before processing. Loading or merging changes the metadata being edited; process the video to save the intended result.
