Finding the correct movie metadata

Improve movie matches by checking the title and release year.

iFlicks uses The Movie Database to find movie information. The title and release year help distinguish films with similar names.

  1. Check the movie title interpreted from the filename.
  2. Add or correct the release year, especially for a remake.
  3. Search again and compare the returned title, year and description.
  4. If needed, try the original title or another commonly used title.

Small spelling differences may still produce a match, but a clear, accurate title is the best starting point. Before processing, confirm that the artwork and description belong to the film you intended.

If the source record is incomplete or incorrect, you can adjust the metadata in iFlicks. The Movie Database is community maintained, so you can also contribute corrections there.
