Tags are placeholders for values. Instead of typing a fixed value into a rule action, you can insert a tag that reads information from the current video.
- Create or edit a rule action for a text or number field.
- Drag an available tag into the value field.
- Add other tags or ordinary text if you want to combine values.
- Open the tag's menu to choose an available source or formatting option.
Choose the source
Depending on the tag, you can use current metadata, information loaded from the file, or metadata from an associated media-library item. Choosing the source matters when a lookup has changed information that you want to preserve.
Format the value
- Capitalize: capitalize words.
- Lowercase / Uppercase: change the letter case.
- Strip: remove the final extension-like suffix after a dot.
- Clean: clean text for use in metadata.
- Pad: add a leading zero to a single-digit number.
For example, padding episode number 5 produces 05. Check the result on a sample video before applying a new naming or formatting rule to your collection.
