Fixing an incorrect movie or episode match

Correct the search information and prevent the same mismatch from recurring.

If a video's title, plot or artwork belongs to something else, correct its identity before processing. Saving more metadata from the wrong match will not fix the underlying search.

For a movie

  1. Check that the video is classified as a movie.
  2. Use the film title rather than a release-group name or technical filename.
  3. Check the release year, especially for remakes.
  4. Search again. If necessary, try the original title.
  5. Compare the year, plot and artwork before accepting the result.

For a TV episode

  1. Check the series name, season and episode number.
  2. Check the TV-show database selected in settings.
  3. Compare the episode against that database's numbering.
  4. Correct the information, search again and verify the episode title.

Specials, double episodes and DVD or broadcast orders can differ between sources. Match the actual episode to the selected source rather than assuming the same numbers work in every database.

If your correction keeps changing

Review file-load and metadata-update rules. A rule can rewrite a title, season or episode after your edit. For recurring filename differences, create a narrowly scoped file-load rule. For home videos or material absent from online databases, disable automatic lookup and supply your own metadata.

If a mismatch remains, send the exact filename, intended title/year or episode, selected source and a screenshot of the returned result.
